My name is Stephanie Selna and this will be my second year teaching at Mingus. I was born and raised in Mesa, AZ and then moved to Flagstaff, AZ to attend Northern Arizona University. While at NAU I earned my bachelor's degree in Biology and Secondary Education. I have loved science my entire life and every career option I explored was science focused. I landed on teaching when I realized how much I loved working directly with students and opening the world of science up to them. I started my career teaching Biology and Anatomy&Physiology at Flagstaff High School. After a year and a half I moved to Mount Elden Middle School where I taught 7th/8th grade science for the Alpine Leadership Academy. Alpine was a special academy focused on outdoor, place-based education which means we wove the curriuclum into hiking, camping, white water rafting, etc. From there life brought me to Cottonwood, where for 3 years I taught 7th/8th grade science at Cottonwood Middle School. I am very excited to be starting my second year back in the high school environment and back to teaching Biology full time here at Mingus.
